PJA believes that a just resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must - and ultimately will - result in a two-state solution, with an independent Palestine existing peacefully next to a secure Israel, and with Jerusalem serving as a capital for both states.
We support organizations in Israel and the Occupied Territories, as well as in the United States, working to build the kind of society and inter-community relations essential to long–term prospects for peaceful co-existence in the Middle East. And just as we work for economic and social justice in American society, so too do we support similar efforts in Israel and the Occupied Territories.
PJA strongly advocates for vigorous and open debate and discussion on Israel-related issues within the American Jewish community, a dialogue without threats or fears of retribution and ostracism. We are proponents of a community conversation that is as open, democratic and free as is the one in Israel. It is only through such a dialogue that we can hope to adequately equip future generations of American Jews with the nuanced and thoughtful perspectives they need in order to adopt, and effectively advocate for, a positive and supportive relationship with Israel during these complicated times.
